4. Although I’m not new to affiliate marketing, I found this article to be quite informative. In fact, I’ll be sharing it with others in my community, as I believe it will help them understand the type of business and how it differs from the other business models.

   You brought up an important point–that of promoting higher ticket items. It’s the old idea of which is better: sell more items at less profit each or sell fewer items at more profit each. The discount seller vs the high-end seller. I’m actually trying to do both, but in limited amounts. I don’t want my sites to look like the bargain basement with ads all over.

15. What an great diagram of affiliate marketing for 2020. In this day and age, it’s never been less demanding and cheaper to create cash or begin a business online. With affiliate marketing, there’s so much potential to form a living advancing other companies’ items and services. You made an great refinement between high ticket and low ticket programs. Low ticket partner programs are fine, but not continuously the leading put for newbies to begin. 17. I just wanted to add that this is a great way to have an outlet as well as do what you love if you’re a writer at heart, but didn’t go to school for it and are worried you won’t succeed due to lack of education. 

    While there are things we must learn no matter what stage in marketing we’re in, it’s not nearly as expensive as a traditional college education and you have the opportunity to reach more people because we’re not limited to just our country. I mean, how many people actually have the income to travel internationally to search for job opportunities? I would imagine not many.

    It’s also a great opportunity for introverts and people who enjoy reading in general.

    There are so many benefits!

    I do enjoy reading your reviews and checking out your recommendations. I do like the fact that as an affiliate marketer I will never be required to pitch my business to a physical person. As an introvert, I find that affiliate marketing is the perfect business model for me.

    I do like the idea of promoting high ticket items over low ones because you are correct it takes the same effort and yet we sell tons more low ticket items for the same returns. I have been looking around for more high-end affiliate marketing

25. Although I have been in the online world for about 5 years, I haven’t come across the idea of affiliate marketing for bloggers until last year. I thought you have to promote and shill products in order to make money this way. I’m glad it’s possible to do it the way you suggest and you can write reviews according to your personal experience with products, which is not always the best. Bad reviews are also reviews. I’m definitely glad I found this opportunity in the fast growing online world.

34. I got a question related to niches. I always believed, and mostly was always taught to, just stick with what you purely like, interested in and something that you know a thing or two about, and the money will come down the line.

    But how true is that really? I heard some marketers put a lot of time into properly researching a niche first, as not all of them can be profitable. I guess if there’s no interest, then there’s no money to be made, right?

I feel that I need to know and understand the brand and believe in the brand itself, whether it is reputable and has positive reviews. It’s a moral problem if you can promote a product that you don’t believe to be a great product. I have been blogging and doing affiliate marketing for over a month. I have put in so much time researching, writing, and designing. I am hoping that it will pay off. My industry is skin care and well being. I don’t see how I could promote big ticket items when it comes to my niche. Any ideas?

I agree with you, I tried almost all the networks out there: Amazon, ShareASale, etc, but in the end you spend a lot of time finding the right product, understanding what you are talking about, trying it and reviewing it, and then taking the crumbs, while someone other is eating. If you target broke people living paycheck to paycheck you will find a lot of low ticket sales, but if you target affluent people you can find your sweet spot in the commission that will fund a lifestyle change from struggling to full time income online.

Since the Affiliate Marketing Business model is not, by any means, a Get-Rich-Quick Scheme, it requires anyone who wants to be successful in Affiliate marketing to put in a lot of time, perseverance, and dedication. It makes total sense that you would want to sell quality products with a high Return on Investment (ROI) and earn a $1000 commission!

    I have been involved with Amazon, and I am moving away from them since they cut down once more the commission rate of many of their products. I am signing up for other affiliate programs selling the same product for 10X the commission rate! And guess what? The price of the product is the same as with Amazon, and if some cases are even cheaper than with Amazon. So, the customers don’t get slam with the cost of the higher commission that the affiliate marketer gets!

This just goes to show that the skills you acquire when you learn affiliate marketing can help you to promote just about anything – a $2 keepsake on Amazon or a high ticket product with $1000 commission – they both take the same knowledge and effort, you just have to know your target market and how to position the offer to them.

75. It is a great post for people on a lookout for online passive income. Affiliate marketing has more merits than demerits. You tend to live a life of freedom at your own pace. And, you do make money online if you put the right effort as in any other business.

    Your advice about selling high ticket items is quite relevant as selling a high ticket items requires almost the same effort as a low ticket one. I used to believe that as a newbie I need to target the low ticket items. But, I see the point her every clear and have changed my mindset immediately.

83. Yeah, I guess, I kind of bought into a version of that lie/myth. I was told that it’s equally manageable to create a business around the low ticket products as it is with high ticket ones. From my experience, I can tell, for sure, that’s not the case. And for me, this is finally the tipping point. I will be switching focus to a completely different niche.     As much as I also love MLM, I get to agree that it requires much more work compared to Affiliate marketing. I actually had a good laugh with the ‘5 foot rule’ hahaha. It brought back a lot of moments when I was still active in my MLM business. It is also true that no stocking is required, which also means that the start up cost is low and less risky. I witnessed people who stocked up 4-6 months supplies in order to achieve a higher rank. It would not be required in terms of affiliate marketing business model.

    I do believe affiliate marketing is an amazing way to make money online but the issue is that it can take some time before one starts to see good results from this line of business. Of course, it has risk factors involved but the sad thing is that not a lot of people are willing to take the risk to run this business because of one reason or the other.

    Affiliate marketing can be rewarding if done right but can also be a waste of time if done the wrong way. I have seen a lot of people that have wasted a lot of time without achieving anything in this business but also I have seen a lot of people that have achieved a lot from affiliate marketing. 

    So my advice for anyone thinking of becoming an affiliate marketer is that they need to be aware of the pros and cons of this business before entering and also have the patience to build this business over time before it starts earning a reasonable sum.

96. Finding a myriad of different possibilities of working online was my reality for a couple of years. I did try some of them. I did lose time and sometimes money with some of them. Affiliate marketing is the first I do not feel like losing either. The first thing I liked about it is that I focus on creating content, not sales. Useful content which may actually help people in some issues I choose to write about and offer my expertise. Then, there’s working literally whenever I feel like-in the evening, at down, during the night… The work done ones, can payout for a long time when it’s done correctly and it only takes to deliver honest, quality content. No need for actual active selling. It will happen when you become a trusted source of information. Not to mention that you can start it without any (or any big) investment, apart from your time and work.

101. Thanks for that wealth of information. I agree with what you say about MLM. I have been involved in a few over the years and never liked the concept of selling to your friends and recruiting. When you think about it, MLM was developed in the ’70s, long before there was an internet, and they are stuck with that marketing plan. 

     Affiliate marketing is great because its all online, and all the training is online, no selling to friends and family, there are millions of people on the internet looking to buy. I’ve been building an affiliate marketing website for 2 years now and I think that learning how to build a website and drive traffic to that website, then monetize it is very valuable knowledge.

104. Rarely have I come across an article that is laced with such a wealth of information and, need I say, promise. I should use this as ‘hub central’ on my desktop and just keep following the links. All the while learning. I feel like a sponge that’s about to be dropped in a huge bowl of water.

     I am truly grateful to witness that particular ‘myth’ well and truly busted. I am still in the very early stages of affiliate marketing, having only just completed my first year. Yet, even in this short space of time I have been constantly reminded that we should be happy with the small stuff. It’s like having the blinkers pulled off and realising that we don’t have to keep running wound the same track.

105. I have just recently started affiliate marketing, and I will admit that I figured it would be easier to sell a bunch of smaller priced items than higher-priced items. You are right though, it takes the same amount of effort either way! Do you think that people will stay on your site if they see prices that are out of their budget? 108. One thing I see that’s becoming common in MLMs is that they are starting to build online networks and enrolling new members through the virtual space without having to do any house parties. Some even called themselves as affiliates instead of independant distributors. It’s actually quite confusing because the monetizing strategy still require you to enroll new members whereas, for online affiliates, you just need to promote products.

     I would agree with the point you laid down on the affiliate marketing business model, there are six. Also with the idea that you can have both high tickets and low tickets.

117. What an excellent overview of affiliate marketing for 2020. In this day and age, it’s never been easier and cheaper to make money or start a business online. With affiliate marketing, there is so much potential to make a living promoting other companies’ products and services.

     You made an excellent distinction between high ticket and low ticket programs. Low ticket affiliate programs are fine, but not always the best place for newbies to start. As an affiliate marketer myself, I’ve found more success with high ticket products than with low ticket ones. I’m not at the point where it happens so often, but I’ve had success promoting high affiliate products. So anything is possible with promoting any type of affiliate program.

     The ebook looks really good (along with the awesome bonuses). Maybe not now, but I’ll bookmark this page and revisit the ebook. It looks something worthwhile to look into for sure.

123. I’m an affiliate marketer and I totally agree with you; it takes the same amount of effort to promote a program where you have the potential to earn $1000 per sale as one where you earn $1 per sale. But there is a difference, I believe, in the way we promote it.

     The way we promote a product that is lower in cost will be different than the way we promote a $1000 product. That’s because the audience is different. People who can afford $100 might not necessarily be able to afford $1000. 

     Can you share a few tips on how you promote high ticket programs? That would be greatly appreciated!

132. Yes, affiliate marketing is a very good way to make money online and with the right support it is doable for everybody. You correctly say that the best products to promote are the ones you believe in or you have experience with. I think therefore that the best way do to this is to make a list of your passions, hobbies and interests and then choose the one or ones that you can really study, talk, research and above all write about on a daily basis. You can then easily build out your website by adding relevant content, so that you will reach an audience. The products you will then promote will follow logically from your niche.

134. This was a great reminder for me why I enjoy the affiliate marketing model. The main reasons being that there are no customers to deal with, no downline to deal with, and best of all no stock and shipping to worry about.

     However, I have been selling mainly low ticket items. Luckily it is not a lot of work to promote these items as the articles were done ages ago and I just keep getting repeat business, but now you have made me think maybe I should look at promoting more high ticket items in the future. Thank you for sharing this information.  I sometimes find it difficult to determine if I should promote a low priced product, or one that is deemed “higher end”.  I once tried to gain sales from expensive diamond jewelry, that was an epic failure, but I found that low cost jewelry does in fact sell well.  This information has helped me decide to focus more on the lower priced items, and leave the higher priced items for the “salesmen”.

     I agree with you. I learned a long time ago that if you don’t believe in a product or service, it’s going to be very difficult to  successfully promote it. Affiliate marketing is a fine choice for those new to internet marketing because your primary goal is to promote a product. No worries about presentations, selling to friends and family, etc.

Aww man … I’ve tried so many home-based businesses in my lifetime (Melaleuca, Avon, Tupperware, vacuum cleaners, photography courses, waterless cookware, home catering service, cleaning services and more), it’s almost embarrassing.  But I haven’t given up as I’m still in love with the idea of being self-employed.  But I’m not getting any younger.  I’ve seen a lot about affiliate marketing lately, but I’m not the go-getter I used to be.  I’ve slowed down.  Is this something a grandmother can do?  Do I have to go full-time?  Do I need super sales skills to go after the sales of high-ticket items?

143. About the affiliate marketing myth and what you’ve explained serves as an encouragement to me as I’m new to affiliate marketing. A lot of folks do say this that high ticket programs are very difficult to promote especially to newbies.

     But sometimes it got me thinking like “Are people not making money from the so called high ticket programs? If yes, then is not the same effort those people put into their businesses that you’ll also do?” I’m very glad you came up with this and gave a thoughtful example. When one is creative and put in a lot of effort to build their businesses, they will really excel on any high ticket program.

     I think what makes affiliate marketing more fun is when you have passion for what you do and can relate it to anyone with confidence.

     I’m new at affiliate marketing so it was great that I landed on your site. It is very easy to start affiliate marketing, you just have to be ready to put in your research and do your blogging. I’m a stay-at-home mom and I wanted to earn some money while staying home with my kids and I’ve tried other things and gotten nowhere. Affiliate marketing though, that’s where it’s at and you make very good points throughout.

It is good to start out working with a good opportunity and build it up from there. The main consideration is the sustainability in the long run. 155. I would say that based on my experience that affiliate marketing is an excellent way to make money online. Unlike MLMs, you don’t have to cultivate and maintain a “down line”. Unlike direct sales, there are no products to keep up with, store, or figure out how to deliver them to the consumer. Instead, you can focus on your passion and sell the knowledge you have about that passion.

     This is a very good introduction to affiliate marketing.although the website is very busy in appearance it actually has a strategy theme running right through it.
     There is a very brief introduction to affiliate marketing presumably to attract more solid interaction at a later stage.
     It the offers some physical evidence regarding who the website owner is what he did and current update on where he is his up to date life.
     There are offers even though they are not free with relatively modest amounts to pay.
     an assessment of pros and cons against MLM and the relative low barriers to entry within the affiliate marketing worls is useful too.
     The comments of real people backing the proposition is a nice touch though perhaps a tad overdone and then we go into a plethora of articles on products scams and many more topics that are pretty mixed and hurled together in what appears in no particular order.
     Then into an array of other advertising product. The website has a genuine feel about it but has a lot to go through in order to pick out the essentials of the message attempted to be conveyed.

161. Affiliate marketing is definitely the way to go in 2020. It’s still haven’t reached it’s potential and I recommend it over most networking marketing and MLM any day. I have nothing against those models, but AM is far superior in my opinion.

     The fact that targetting high ticket programs/products is the best way to go is shocking to some; the idea of high ticket items are harder to sell is just false. 

     I think that as long as the traffic is targeted and is interested in the item, there is no viable reason why sales wouldn’t happen.

     I have so far promoted low ticket products on my websites, mostly because they are products that I wanted to promote. I have not researched many high ticket affiliate products yet within my niche. Perhaps I should.

     What you say makes affiliate marketing seem easy.  I have wanted to get into this business since I retired.  It has been difficult finding a program that teaches you how to do it and is not a scam.

     I wasted $99 for one program that said they would teach you all you needed to know AND you would get a Private coach.  The problem was that the “coach’s” job was to sell you their completely guaranteed program that cost only $15,000.  I did not fall for their SCAM.  I am very concerned about someone trying to scam me again.

     Since you have been doing affiliate marketing going on 11 years do you know of any legitimate programs on the internet that teaches you all you need to know?  Things like how to build a website, where to find companies that hire affiliates, how to attract customers to your website, that will answers questions you might have, etc.
     Especially programs that don’t charge hundreds or thousands of dollars and keep trying to sell you more stuff.

I rejoined late last year but I haven’t seen you around on the site. 185. I’ve been in affiliate marketing for about 5 months now. That has taught me a lot about how it works. It really does come down to time management. It is easy to waste time and procrastinate. And get distracted. So you want to be maximizing your returns at the same time. Amazon for example has very low commissions. So this is okay when you already have lots of traffic, I also agree that it’s important to focus on things that you are passionate about. Nobody likes to be sold and tricked. they want to see you as a reliable experts.

     I have heard severally of MLM and i even know people struggling doing it. Although affiliate marketing requires a lot of learning and hardwork, it has been proven to be the most lucrative for a lot of persons. I want to do affiliate marketing.

     I’d rather promote high ticket Products because a sale would yield a nice commission. I have been advised several times to go for high tickets program promotion because it takes similar effort to promote both low and high tickets program.
